anCnoc 24 YO

anCnoc is the whisky produced at Knockdhu Distillery located in the region Highland i Scotland. The distillery opened in October 1894. They produces both unpeated and peated whiskies. Today I am tasting the 24 YO which is an unpeated whisky.

They do not reveal a lot of details about the whisky, but The Whisky Exchange says anCnoc 24 YO has been matured in both bourbon and sherry casks. It is bottled at 46 ABV.

Fruity and smooth on the nose. Peaches and red apples. Fresh tobacco. Warm and gentle. Some white pepper. A bit dusty after spending some time in the glass. Warm and surprisingly spicy on the palate. The fruitiness appears again, now with baked red apples and pineapples. I get white pepper and ginger. The finish is spicy and warm. Grilled slices of pineapples – without any smoke from the grill, just the juicy taste of warm pineapples. A bit dry with some oak and peanut shells.

My score: nose 22 / taste 21 / finish 21 / balance 22 = 86

Thanks, Sebastian!
