The independent bottler Cadenhead has a range of whiskies named Cadenhead Creations. This is what they say about it:
Bottlings in our Cadenhead Creations range are small batch blends, blended malts or blended grains. There will be a maximum of 3 casks used and occasionally these will be single cask releases. There are various Creations at a range of ages and, as usual, the strength is dictated by taste only. The Cadenhead Creations range is where our staff are free to be creative and these bottlings are often the most intriguing and creative in any Cadenhead’s release.
Cadenhead Creations 18 YO Batch #3 Light Creamy Vanilla was created from two butts. The whisky was distilled in 1998 and bottled in 2017 as part of Cadenhead’s 175th Anniversary celebrations. This is a blended Scotch bottled at 44,6 ABV. The whisky is available in Norway at NOK 935.
Light fruitiness on the nose. It smells like dusty books in a library, but at the same time it is quite fresh. Fudge, grapes and crispy pears. Very smooth on the palate. Vanilla, sugar syrup, grapes and salt. Lime zest, eucalyptus, fudge and oak. The finish is smooth at first, then it finishes off a bit dry and nutty. Ginger beer, nutmeg and green grapes.
My score: nose 22 / taste 21 / finish 20 / balance 22 = 85
Thanks, Ivar and Jon!
