Chivas Regal released Ultis in 2016. This is their first blended malt:
Our first blended malt Scotch whisky contains five precious signature single malts. Each one, hand selected from five Speyside distilleries in honour of the five generations of Chivas Regal Master Blenders.
The five distilleries are revealed by The Whisky Exchange: Allt a’Bhainne, Braeval, Longmorn, Strathisla and Tormore.
Ultis is bottled at 40 ABV. It is not available in Norway, but you can get it online.
Frizzy on the nose. I get perfume, ginger and beer. It smells like hard fruit candy in metallic cans – childhood memories. Dusty. Caramel. Easy drinking. Plain and a bit metallic. I get ginger and hard fruit candy on the palate as well. Mint and eucalyptus. The finish is plain and metallic spiced up with some white pepper. This one was a bit boring to me and the metallic part reduces the score.
My score: nose 19 / taste 19 / finish 18 / balance 20 = 76
