Flaming Heart is a blended malt from Scotland bottled by Compass Box. This is what they say about their whisky:
First released in 2006, Flaming Heart was the first whisky to combine the rich, complex spice of Scotch aged in new French oak with the evocative peat-fired smoke of Islay malt. It created a genre-defying style that was smouldering, spicy, complex – and so popular that we’ve re-released it four more times in the years that followed.
The bottling series is called 15th Anniversary Limited Edition. This is the 5th Edition bottled in July 2015 at 48,9 ABV. There was a total of 12060 bottles released. It contains whiskies from Caol Ila, Clynelish, Teaninich, Dailuaine.
Warm and earthy on the nose. Ginger beer with peat. Hay and grass. Licorice and iodine. Quite complex! Rich and peaty on the palate. Ammonia and metallic. Soft on the finish. Sugar syrup. Dry, nutty and metallic in the end.
My score: nose 21 / taste 20 / finish 20 / balance 20 = 81
Thanks, Patrik & Roland!
