I have tasted a few whiskies from Glen Moray Distillery during the last weeks. Today it is time to taste a peated one!
Glen Moray 2010 Peated PX Finish was distilled in 2010 and bottled in 2018. First matured in bourbon casks, as all whiskies from Glen Moray, and then given a finish in Pedro Ximenez sherry cask #999/7. It was bottled into 640 bottles at 55,8 ABV.
Warm, fruity peat on the nose. Rich and complex. Baked apples, black pepper and cardamom. A bit meaty. Smoked sausages! Fruity and peaty on the palate as well. Still rich and complex. The peat is warm and “smooth”. The fruitiness comes in form of juicy peaches and red, baked apples.
My score: nose 23 / taste 23 / finish 23 / balance 23 = 92
Thanks, Iain!
