A good friend was chocked when he saw my score for Glencadam 15 YO. This chock resulted in me getting samples of Glencadam 10 YO, 12 YO, 14 YO, 15 YO and 21 YO from him. Lucky me! I will share my thoughts of the whiskies in the weeks to come.
Glencadam Distillery is located in the region Highland in Scotland. All their whiskies are unchillfiltered to ensure that the flavour components of the whisky are preserved.
Today it is time for the 10 YO. It is bottled at 46 ABV. It is not available in Norway (only the 30 YO is available here).
Flowers and perfume on the nose at first, but luckily that ends quickly. Vanilla, caramel, lemon and oak. Very spicy on the palate and quite woody. There is some sweetness here as long as I keep the whisky in my mouth. Once I swallow the sweetness is gone and it leaves a very spicy and nutty finish. A bit rough on the palate, I think.
My score: nose 21 / taste 19 / finish 19 / balance 19 = 78
Thanks, David!
