As I have told you a couple of times before: A good friend was chocked when he saw my score for Glencadam 15 YO. This chock resulted in me getting samples of Glencadam 10 YO, 12 YO, 14 YO, 15 YO and 21 YO. Lucky me!
Glencadam distillery is located in the region Highland in Scotland. Here is a short quote from there web page:
Jim Murray is recognised internationally as the leading commentator on the world’s whiskies and Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible, published yearly, is the world’s biggest selling whisky book.
Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible 2014 score: 95
I have already shared my thoughts of the 10 YO and the 12 YO. Today it is time for the 14 YO. It is bottled at 46 ABV. The 14 YO has been given an Oloroso finish.
Raisins and punch on the nose. Fresh with mint and eucalyptus. Mmmm…rich chocolate on the palate. Something fresh which I cannot describe. It disappears quite quickly though and leaves a watery feeling in my mouth. Ashes on the finish – which means it is very dry. Black pepper and nutmeg. I guess the Oloroso finish shows itself especially on the nose, slightly on the palate. Again, as with the Port Wood Finish, it does not seem to be fully integrated.
My score: nose 22 / taste 20 / finish 19 / balance 20 = 81
Thanks, David!
