I have swapped samples with a friend. One of the samples I received was a GlenDronach bottled for Whiskybase.com. This is a 11 YO whisky distilled 30 May 2002 and bottled in December 2013 at 57,2 ABV. It has been matured in Oloroso sherry butt #2751. The number of bottles was 701.
There are no single cask distillery bottlings from GlenDronach available in Norway now. I have enjoyed all the single casks I have tasted from GlenDronach and hope there will be a new one available in Norway one day. You can find my old reviews of GlenDronach SC here.
Figs and dates. Rich! A warm sweetness. A bit nutty like the shells from peanuts. Fudge and oak. Fudge and milk chocolate on the palate. Wow…so nice! Really rich. Dates, cardamom, nutmeg and pepper. The finish is a bit sugary with some spices. I find white pepper, black pepper and nutmeg.
My score: nose 23 / taste 24 / finish 22 / balance 22 = 91
Thanks, Roland!
