Glenrothes 1998 14 YO Wilson & Morgan

Todays whisky is a 14 YO Glenrothes released from the independent bottler Wilson & Morgan. Glenrothes Distillery is located in the region Speyside in Scotland.

This whisky was distilled in 1998 and bottled 16 July 2012 into 2066 bottles. It was given a Marsala Cask Finish. This will be interesting!

The Ladies’ Share tasted it at our last meeting before Summer. My tasting notes includes help from the others.

Very sweet on the nose. We had rum, raisins and figs. It was a bit sour at first, but the sourness disappeared. Camphur and ammonia. Quite rich on the nose. Still rum and raisins on the palate. Salt. In my notes I wrote rum and raisins twice, so I guess it was quite sweet! Fudge and salt on the finish. Oily. This was a nice Glenrothes, I think. It was too one-dimensional and sweet to deserve a higher score in my book.

My score: nose 21 / taste 21 / finish 21 / balance 21 = 84
