Glenwood Blended Scotch Whisky

Have you missed my reviews from the December tasting for The Ladies’ Share? 😉 Where we tasted the cheapest whiskies from the state monopoly? So far I have shared my tasting notes on Lochlins, Glen Gyle 8 YO and Always. Well, today the time has come for another one. This is my second time tasting it neat. At our December meeting we also used it for making Mint Juleps with oranges.

Glenwood Blended Scotch Whisky is bottled for Norway by Accelerate Brands AS. The bottling series is named Finest Scotch Whisky. It is bottled at 40 ABV on a 70 cl bottle made of…wait for it: Plastic(!). We might have been a little bit affected by that.

It is available in Norway at NOK 294,90.

Smooth on the nose. Overripe bananas and iodine. After “diving” into it I found candy made of soft candy with banana flavour covered in dark chocolate. It becomes more nutty on the nose after tasting it. Not exactly complex and quite sickening. Alcohol is the first thing to meet the palate. Plain and watery. Metallic and quite dry, like peanut shells. The taste does not match the smell at all. This time I am tasting it with a friend who thought it tasted like boiled water from the coffee machine!

My score:  nose 18 / taste 16 / finish 16 / balance 16 = 66
