Hazelburn is one of the three different expressions of whisky produced at Springbank Distillery. This is an unpeated whisky.
Hazelburn 9 YO Oloroso Cask has been matured for six years in bourbon casks and then three years in Barolo casks. It was distilled June 2007 and bottled October 2016 at 57,9 ABV into 10 800 bottles. This makes it 9 YO.
It is available in Norway at NOK 899.
Light on the nose. Vanilla and fudge. Very rich. A bit oaky. Quite fresh. Eucalyptus, mint and lemon juice. Mmm… Rich and smooth on the palate. Fudge and salted caramel. Salt, white pepper and ginger. Caramel on the finish. A bit oaky. It lingers with warmth and the taste of fudge and peanut butter.
My score: nose 23 / taste 23 / finish 21 / balance 22 = 89
