Highland Park Full Volume

Perfect! A new first-fill bourbon whisky from Highland Park! They have previously released two first-fill bourbon matured whiskies. You can read my thoughts about Freya here and ICE here.

This is what they say about Highland Park Full Volume:

FULL VOLUME was created using 100% ex-bourbon casks rather than our traditional sherry-seasoned ones. During 1999, a combination of 481 casks – 200 litre barrels and 250 litre hogsheads – were filled at strengths of between 63.6% and 63.7%. The whisky was filtered at just over 4oC and delivers flavours of creamy vanilla and sweet citrus fruits from the bourbon casks, balanced by Highland Park’s characteristic aromatic smokiness.

The whisky is bottled at 47,2 ABV.

It will be available in Norway 4 May 2018 at NOK 949,90, see article on Whisky Saga about new releases in May.

Soft and gentle on the nose. Vanilla and lemon juice. Quite fresh. Herbs and grass. Mmm… Soft, sweet and fresh on the palate. Delicate. Lots of lemon juice with added sugar. Smooth, and a bit sour. Green grapes and fudge. Sugar and oak on the finish. White pepper and nutmeg. I cannot detect the peat at all, but I guess it is there as it always is on a whisky from Highland Park 😉

My score: nose 22 / taste 22 / finish 22 / balance 22 = 88

Thanks, Samuel!
