Last Wednesday I shared my tasting notes of Johnnie Walker Platinum Label 18 YO which turned out to be a nice whisky. We tasted the Platinum Label and the Black Label at the same meeting.
Johnnie Walker Black Label is a 12 YO blend bottled at 40 ABV. It is available in Norway at NOK 409,90.
Leather, sulphur and wet tobacco on the nose. One of the Ladies named it a Cowboy whisky! Smoke and sugar on the palate. Nothing much happening really. A funny finish with smoke, sugar, oak and the strange taste of synthetic candy. This was a really dry whisky.
My score: nose 20 / taste 19 / finish 19 / balance 19 = 77
Suprisingly (to me) the vote between Platinum Label 18 YO and Black Label 12 YO turned out to be very close: four Ladies voted the Platinum as the best one and three voted for the Black Label! Some found Platinum Label to be too sweet and therefore preferred Black Label.
