The Boutique Collection from Macallan Distillery is bottled exclusively for the Macallan Boutiques at airports in London, Dubai, Taiwan and at the distillery.
I tasted Macallan Boutique Collection 2019 at Heathrow airport 22 August 2019. The whisky has been matured in American and European Sherry Casks and is bottled at 52 ABV. I usually do not include the tasting notes from the distillery in my articles, but this time I had to since they are quite similar to mine (I read these after writing mine):
Defined by notes of sweet dried fruits, toffee and ginger, this single malt is the result of a superior craftsmanship calling on both American and European oak sherry-seasoned casks to create a balance of fruitiness and oak.
Fruity on the nose. Warm and quite complex. I get dried fruit like dried apricots, but also fresh fruit. It is more fresh than the more heavy sherry matured whiskies I have tasted. I also get fudge. Fruity and sweet on the palate. I get chocolate and different kinds of dried fruit. Tropical fruit to be more specific, like pineapple and papaya. The finish is more spicy. There is ginger and cinnamon. A bit oaky. Dark chocolate.
My score: nose 23 / taste 23 / finish 21 / balance 22 = 89
