Smögen Distillery is located on the West coast of Sweden.
Smögen Single Cask Edition No. 7 was distilled late 2011 and bottled late January 2019, the same as Single Cask Edition No. 6 (read my tasting notes here). Single Cask Edition No. 7 was matured the whole time in a bourbon barrel from Maker’s Mark, #57/2011. The outturn was 327 bottles at 62,2 ABV.
Vanilla and soft peat on the nose. Clean and elegant. Walnuts, nutmeg, white pepper and oak. So smooth and rich and peaty on the palate. A delicate taste of vanilla and smoke. Salt, pears and mint. The finish is quite dry in a spicy way. Some licorice and mint as well.
My score: nose 22 / taste 22 / finish 22 / balance 22 = 88
