Tomorrow morning The Ladies’ Share are travelling to Smögen Whisky located at the West coast of Sweden, and we are sooo excited! What better way to prepare for the journey than to enjoy a very special bottling ♥
This is a 5 YO heavily peated (as always from Smögen) whisky bottled at cask strength 56 ABV. It was distilled November 2011 and then matured in an European oak cask, a second fill Sauternes octave #53, until it was bottled November 2016 into 92 bottles. Buteljörer & Mässketörer is “Bottled for those that help in shaping our dream”, as it says on the botle.
Smooth and soft on the nose. Coca Cola, vanilla and peat. Caramel, pears and oak. Baked red apples and dates. A hint of Earl Grey. Smooth and fruity on the palate. Sweet apples, honey melon, papaya, fudge and peat. Quite complex. Oaky and peppery. The finish is soft and smooth at first. Vanilla, caramel and white pepper. Oaky and nutty in the end.
My score: nose 22 / 22 / 21 / 22 = 87
