SMWS 26.105 Bumblebees by the sea

I exchanged some samples with a friend a while ago. Today is the day to taste one of the samples he gave me. The whisky is named 26.105 Bumblebees by the sea and is a release from the indepdent bottler The Scotch Malt Whisky Society. It is a 29 YO Clynelish from 1984 hiding behind that name.

This Clynelish has been matured in a refill sherry butt and it bottled at 57,6 ABV. It was distilled 28 November 1984 and bottled in 2014 into 548 bottles.

Rich and delicate on the nose. Ginger beer, waxed green apples and eucalyptus. Mmm… Wow! So rich and warm and lovely on the palate. Apples, pears, and pineapple. Spicy as well with ginger, white pepper and nutmeg. A warm and lingering finish. Sweet, fruity and spicy. Ginger beer and Coca Cola mixed with some oakiness.

My score: nose 22 / taste 23 / finish 22 / balance 22 = 89

Thanks, Claus!
