Springbank Green 12 YO

Today I am continuing through the whisky shelf at one of the Ladies in the club.

She bought a whisky from Springbank Distillery a few months ago; Springbank Green 12 YO. I have tasted this one quite a few times before, but never gotten around to take some actual tasting notes. This evening I dived into this bourbon matured Springbank made from organic barley. 9000 bottles were released in 2014. It is bottled at 46 ABV. Earlier this Summer I shared my tasting notes on Springbank Green 13 YO.

Springbank Green 12 YO is available in Norway at NOK 925.

It smells like a barn at first! The it turns towards citrus. I get lemon. Then it becomes grassy and it gets the smell of yeast dissolved in water. Sweet and salt on the palate. Vanilla and caramel. Typically like the the Norwegian caramel Smørbukk. The peat is gently mixed with white pepper and licorice. The finish is buttery with peanuts. Still the taste of peat, white pepper and licorice. This is a sweet and nice dram.

My score: nose 21 / taste 22 / finish 22 / balance 22 = 87
