Teaninich 2007 15 YO Hart Brothers

Teaninich Distillery is located in the region Highland in Scotland. Today I am tasting a whisky from the independent bottler Hart Brothers, made is available in Norway at NOK 1 822 by the new Norwegian importer Cadus.

The whisky is distilled in January 2007 and then matured for 15 years in an American oak cask before bottled in September 2022 at 53,6 ABV.

Sharp on the nose at first with some bitterness. It reminds me of some kind of solvent smell. The nose is more like a gin than a whisky. It is cold, with mint and eucalyptus, almost like the lozenge Doc’ Eukalyptus. Herbs and iodine as well. Sharp and cold on the palate at first, but the herbs join in quickly. Quite light. The alcohol made me expect a more rich whisky. Even though it is light, it spreads out and warms my palate. The finish is oily and buttery. Dry and short in the end.

My score: nose 20 / taste 21 / finish 20 / balance 20 = 81

Thanks, Eric!
