Teerenpeli PRKL

I have tasted some of the whiskies from Teerenpeli Distillery in Finland these last years, and you can read my tasting notes on some of them here: Aura, the 10 YO, Karhi and Rasi.

Today it is time for PRKL. I tasted Teerenpeli Distiller’s Choice PRKL already at Cinderella Whisky Fair 2017, but it is now – at home – I finally have the time to fully analyze the whisky. You see, I bought a bottle at this years Cinderella Whisky Fair 🙂

The whisky has been matured 4 years in sherry and bourbon casks and bottled 40 ABV. It is unfortunately not available in Norway.

The poster at Cinderella Whisky Fair 2018 said this about PRKL: “Damn good single malt from Finland!”. This whisky was never allowed to sell in Finland, though, because of the name, which is short for ‘perkele’. I will leave it to you to find out what it means.

Light on the nose, and warm at the same. Fruity. I get melon, pears and pineapple. Quite fresh. Nutty and dry on the palate at first. Then it changes to fruity – and spicy. Rich. Pineapple, nutmeg and white pepper. After a big sip it is very spicy and I get a tingling feeling in my mouth. A fruity finish. A hint of metallic in the very end.

My score: nose 21 / taste 22 / finish 20 / balance 21 = 84
