Aberlour Distillery is located in the region Highland in Scotland.
A’Bunadh is their series of sherry matured whiskies bottled at cask strength and with no age statement. I have tasted quite a few of their batches, the latest was batch #58, and today it is time to dive into batch #59 before the bottle is emptied! The whisky is bottled at 60,9 ABV.
Warm and fruity on the nose. Peach, nutmeg and white pepper. After a while it changes towards a bit solvent-like. Dry and spicy on the palate. Not as much fruity notes as I expected from the nose. It is quite rough, actually. Black pepper, chilli and peanut shell. Lots of dry, woody notes. A hint of sweetness from honey melon. Very dry on the finish. Woody.
My score: nose 21 / taste 20 / finish 20 / balance 21 = 81
