I have tasted many lovely single casks from Arran Distillery (read a couple of them here and here), and todays whisky is no exception. This is a special bottling, though. With the help from Jon Bertelsen, one of the Norwegian importers of spirits, the rock band OddPopp has chosen their own cask from Arran!
The whisky was distilled 19 July 1999, then matured in bourbon barrel #1999/017 and bottled on 10 December 2014 at 56,5 ABV. This makes it 15 YO. The outturn was 183 bottles.
Unfortunately this one is sold out and not available any more. It is a good thing one of the Ladies still has some left in her bottle 🙂
Sweet and fruity. Vanilla, honey melon, fudge and soft pears. Marshmallows. Salt, thyme and green grapes. A bit dusty. Rich and sweet on the palate! Vanilla, fudge and pears. Fresh. Some herbs on the palate. Some metallic notes. The finish is a bit metallic, but in a good way. Oak and vanilla. Honey melon and fudge.
My score: nose 23 / taste 23 / finish 22 / balance 22 = 90
Thanks, Thea!
