I am lucky to have a good Danish friend with his own whisky from Braunstein distillery in Denmark. I recently got a sample from his 7 YO Braunstein Oloroso Cask.
It was first matured in a 250 liter first fill Oloroso Cask from 2009-03-12 to 2012-11-18 when it was transferred into a 30 liter first fill Oloroso Cask.
A lot of sherry influence on the nose! Prunes and dades in particular, some raisins and filled chocolate as well. Some wood at first. After a while I find fresh licorice and plums. It smells like bit of rum actually. Really rich on the nose. I could have nosed this forever! Rich and very warm on the palate. Not as sweet as the nose, but still the prunes and dades are obvious. The woodiness is more present on the palate than the nose. The finish is spicy and woody with plums and the sweetness from brown sugar.
My score: nose 23 / taste 22 / finish 20 / balance 21 = 86
