Glen Moray Distillery has four different ranges of whiskies; Elgin Classic, Elgin Heritage, Elgin Reserve and Elgin Prestige. Glen Moray 10 YO Fired Oak is part of Elgin Heritage. This is what they say about it:
This multi-layered and uniquely smooth Glen Moray celebrates the Distillery’s long history of innovation and experimentation. The influence of Glen Moray spirit finished in heavily-charred virgin American oak adds a rich intensity and balance.
Glen Moray 10 YO Fired Oak is bottled at 40 ABV.
Vanilla and wood on the nose. Fresh and grassy notes. A hint of glue – in a good way. Spicy on the palate. White pepper, nutmeg and chili. A bit sweet as well. Vanilla, sweet apples and Coca Cola. Surprisingly rich thinking of the ABV. The finish is peppery with vanilla notes. Ginger, nutmeg and white pepper.
My score: nose 21 / taste 21 / finish 21 / balance 22 = 85
Thanks, Iain!
