Better late than never! I just realised I have not shared my tasting notes on Smögen Jubilee 2015! This whisky was released for the 5th Anniversary for Smögen Distillery.
Smögen Jubilee 2015 is 3 YO. The whisky was distilled January 2012 and bottled August 2015 into 222 bottles at 60 ABV. It was matured in a 120 l Sherry quarter cask #8/2012, a first-fill sherry cask made from European oak. As always from Smögen the whisky is heavily peated, 50+ ppm.
Sherry on the nose. Figs, dates and prunes. Oak and peat. Plums and overripe honey melon. The peat is nicely integrated with the sherry notes. Coca-cola on the nose as well. Sugary and smooth on the palate. Burnt caramel, oak, peat and white pepper. A bit dry and nutty. Dry and sugary on the finish. Peanut shells, peat and lots of pepper.
My score: nose 22 / taste 21 / finish 20 / balance 21 = 84
