When The Ladies’ Share met in December 2017 we decided to taste sherry matured whiskies 🙂 That evening we tasted eleven whiskies!
I is always difficult to decide the tasting order. This time, alcohol strength was crucial to the order. We tasted the whiskies in this order:
- The Glenlivet The Master Distiller’s Reserve, Solera vatted, 40 ABV (matured in traditional oak, American first-fill and ex-sherry casks)
- Glenfarclas 15 YO, 46 ABV (5 cl bottle)
- Glenfarclas 21 YO, 43 ABV (5 cl bottle)
- Glenfarclas 25 YO, 43 ABV (5 cl bottle)
- Glenfarclas 40 YO, 46 ABV (5 cl bottle)
- Glengoyne Cask Strength 12 YO, 57,2 ABV
- Glengoyne Cask Strength Batch 003, 58,2 ABV
- Glen Garioch Sherry Cask Matured 15 YO, 53,7 ABV
- Aberlour A’bunadh #26, 60,6 ABV
- Aberlour A’bunadh #54, 60,7 ABV
- Aberlour A’bunadh #50, 59,6 ABV
Our favorites this evening were A’bunadh #54, Glengoyne 12 YO and Glenfarclas 21 YO 🙂
The ‘losers’ were The Glenlivet The Master Distiller’s Reserve with the nose and taste of Coca Cola and baby vomit, and Glen Garioch 15 YO with sulphur, overripe banana and rubber.
