Teerenpeli 10 YO

I never had enough time at this years Cinderella Whisky Fair to taste all the whiskies I wanted. Therefore I chose to buy some samples to enjoy at home. I have already shared my tasting notes on Teerenpeli AURA. Today I am tasting Teerenpeli 10 YO.

Teerenpeli distillery is located in Finland. This is what they say on their website:

Family owned Teerenpeli Distillery was established 2002. It is situated in the same building with Restaurant Taivaanranta in the city centre of Lahti, Finland.

The Distillery is a traditional pot-still distillery, and the spirit is matured in oak casks for at least three years, as required by law. At the moment we are using ex-sherry, bourbon, portwine, rhum casks, in all different sizes. Casks come directly from Scotland and Spain. Annual production capacity is in the region of 40 000 litres new spirit.

Teerenpeli 10 YO is the first ten year old Finnish whisky! It contains 85 percent bourbon casks and 15 percent sherry casks and is bottled at 43 ABV. Unfortunately no Finnish whiskies are available in Norway. You can find Teerenpeli 10 YO in Sweden.

Spices and vanilla on the nose. Quite shy on the nose at first. Peanut shells and orange peel. The orange peel mixed with camphor gives it a freshness. This was an easy drinking whisky. Spicy on the palate with pepper and nutmeg. A watery mouth feel. The finish is warm and spicy. Not very complex. Some nuttiness as well, I think of walnuts. A spicy and well balanced whisky.

My score: nose 21 / taste 21 / finish 21 / balance 21 = 84
