Today I am tasting my first whisky from the Swedish distillery Wannborga. The distillery is located on the island Öland.
They are making wine and different kind of spirits like brandy, gin, vodka and single malt whisky. They will not be mass producing neither wine nor spirits. There will mostly be some hundreds or a few thousands litre of each product.
The Wannborga 5 YO Ö Whisky Artisan Single Malt was released in March 2016. This was a small batch release, limited to just two casks #55 and #56. Read more about it on Whisky Saga. It was bottled at 45,2 ABV.
Warm and fruity on the nose. Malt and vanilla. It smells like walking in the forest. The smell of leaves on the forest ground on a warm Summer day. A hint of candy, eucalyptus, ginger and white pepper. Smooth on the palate. Vanilla and white sugar. Malty and oaky. The finish is sugary and oaky. A light and elegant style.
My score: nose 20 / taste 20 / finish 20 / balance 20 = 80
